Teacher of Art & Design, Practising Artist
I have spent 19 years teaching Art & Design, full-time, in Sixth Form Colleges in both Hampshire and Cambridge. Primarily delivering a fully diverse Fine Art course at A Level, my additional experience of teaching Level 4 Art Foundation as well as GCSE and Key Stage 2 have been absolutely essential to the development of my teaching. Students have excelled in developing extraordinary work in the traditions of painting and drawing as well as innovative contemporary approaches in film, digital media and 3D. I have initiated Saturday Life Drawing opportunities for Art Teachers, provided private 1 to 1 tutoring for students seeking to access prestigious Architecture Schools, and delighted in opportunities to give talks about my own practice to students in other Colleges. My passion for providing outstanding creative learning experiences for young people echoes the energy and commitment I give my own creative practice as an artist. Balancing traditional skills with serious play and risk-taking is important to me both as an educator and practitioner.
